Like most grandparents, my husband and I believe our grandchildren are the most precious children on the planet.

This is our grandson Ian, he will be playing T ball this summer. Isn't he the cutest? He lives in Oklahoma, we live in Florida, we don't have to be experts in geography to know it's much further than a hop, skip and a jump to visit. I am grateful for technology which allows us to talk on the phone and see each other on the webcam occasionally. He breaks my heart when he's looking for me to be there as he watches an airplane fly overhead.

This is our granddaughter Erin, Ian's baby sister. She has Papaw right where she wants him. I'm sure he's only the second of many males to fall prey to her prowess in the years to come. See what I mean? Look at this knowing and adorable gaze. She has learned to say "Papaw" very well and seems to know what this can mean for her in the days ahead.

Now, on to the older granddaughters who live in Arcadia, Florida which is only about 3 hours south of us. They love to match Papaw's wit and get him to "perform" for them. Too cute. It would be great to have captured these times on video. Blackmail material my friends.

As parents and grandparents alike we must all take our responsibility to these young ones very seriously. Their very lives are at stake. I am speaking of their spiritual lives both now and for eternity. The Bible, God's very word, teaches us the importance of sharing the gospel and teaching others of Jesus Christ. As heard recently in a sermon, "Are people better off spiritually having been around you?" This pricked my heart. Father, cause all of your children to work out their salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Phil 2:12b-13

"You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
"You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. Deu 11:18-19

Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord . Psa 34:11

J. D. & I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for a wonderful year. We are looking forward to 2009 and the growth it will bring. We can be sure that there will be joy and sorrow and through it all our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will see us through. Cleave to Him above all earthly things, He is far more valuable than silver or gold. Lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven and be thankful. Thank God for His unspeakable gift!

Yay! Today is our wedding anniversary. The man of my dreams, my husband, my friend, my confidante. I am so thankful to Almighty God that He predestined our marriage. Happy Anniversary, Sweetheart. My love for you grows deeper every day.

Introducing... Hubby of the Year!

Introducing, in the left corner whom some would call “Louse Man” and in the right corner “Hubby of the Year”. Ladies and gentlemen, lads and lassies, today I came home from work to a most wonderful and inviting aroma. What is that smell? Has someone been baking? It smells like cinnamon bread. My husband whom I will from here on refer to as HY (Hubby of the Year) met me at the door with a big smile. “Have you been baking?”, I asked incredulously. Still smiling, I say, “You’ve got me curious” as I follow him to the kitchen. There, on the stove was a most beautiful sight. Pineapple chicken, kielbasa in diced tomatoes and basil, cinnamon green beans, potatoes a la Dan (my dear friend Cindy’s man of the year) and ….. (drum roll please)….. fresh baked bread. Needless to say this was a welcome home I will always remember. Not only did it have a great presentation, but was absolutely delicious as well. And that, my friends, is only one of the many reasons my husband is way in the lead for Hubby of the Year!

Wow, my first blog post. This is a little intimidating I must admit. To begin with I would like to share with you that 1) I am not a writer; 2) More than likely my posts will be few and far between; 3) I am honored that you are reading this.

Believe me I have really struggled at times with being a pastor’s wife. Me? You must be kidding! However, who am I to question God? My creator, sustainer, Savior, provider, the Holy of Holies! After all, where He places us He graces us. I know without a doubt that Almighty God gave me a deep love for this man of God. I had never met anyone who loved and served God with such passion and devotion. I desire to have this love and heart of servitude (which only God can give to us). I am continually learning and soaking up God’s Word. I am learning to love God through loving others whom in days of old I would have considered unlovable.

So what insight may I have to offer you? Only that I am being renewed day by day and will continue to be until the day of Christ Jesus my Lord. Hallelujah and Amen!
